Let's Start With The Introduction

Hi all, my name is Jeremy Dewar, and I am a junior marketing student at Grand Valley State. I grew up in the shadow of Michigan State University and am a huge college sports fan. Since I have been on the ice since I was 3 years old, I am a big hockey fan and that is my favorite sport. I am also a Cowboys and Red Sox fan and follow all pro sports except for the NBA.

Upon graduating from Grand Valley I plan on attending law school, hence I am very interested in sports law. I plan on studying labor law and intellectual property law to gain the information I need to be a lawyer involved in athletics. Some possible career paths I have are, team representation, salary arbitrator, union leader, NCAA compliance officer and agent. My dream job would be to start as a compliance officer at Michigan State and then ascend to the associate A.D. position with my main sport being the Ice Hockey program.

Most of my feeds are from my two interests listed above, hockey and law. I follow the Western College Hockey blog which is excellent in covering the CCHA and WCHA. I also read the sports law professor blog for fascinating articles about the involvement of law in athletics. Currently he has an interesting article about the expiration of the MLS collective bargaining agreement.
